Dyamone' Clark 1st Blog Post: Drag culture;Jaky's 8 Simple Rules: Rule 1- "What is Drag?"

While searching for a video I came across this. This man shares his views on what he believe drag is and is not. He uses many terms from our class such as transgendered and transexual, and goes into history a bit about drag. The video really speaks for itself as he fully explains his arguement and explain the terms he uses. Watch and enjoy.

  1. This video was a great representation of the gender terms we have learned about in class. It really helped me distinguish between the many terms and also understand what exactly dressing in drag means. The video really helped portray the performance and extravagant life style. Great post and video!

  2. "A drag is the art of performing or appearing as opposite gender or gender illusion", that is what they said in the video. I think this video does a good job of explaining some of the many sexualities that there are in the world today. He goes into talking quickly about how the word drag even came about and a little history about women. In the video he also transformed into a drag while he was talking about it. Im pretty that he has more videos but I do think that this video does tie into our class. There is so much more to learned about drags and I cant wait to see the rest of your post.

  3. I thought this video was one of the most interesting to watch. I would have never known that the term "drag" originated from theater or that at one point and time men dressing like women was considered very okay but only for theatrical purposes because women weren't allowed on stage at the time. I think it ties very well into everything we have learned in class and actually helps to understand the differences in the terms used a little better than I understood them before. Thanks for the interesting entry!

  4. I enjoyed watching this video because it explained some of the terms we have learned in class. drag is very underground and not many people know about it or what it involves. This video has given me a better understanding of what drag is and i appreciate that. Great job, this video ties in perfectly with your theme.

  5. This is a really good video!!! It relates a lot to what we have done in class. I like how it defines the terms we have gone over in class from the opinion of someone who is involved in that culture. This definitely intrigues me to read more about drag because it gives really good general information.
