Protect these people! Intro from Marcus Allen

Hello all, my name is Marcus Allen and I have decided to publish blogs on gender identity awareness and protection. So, just let me ask this question: What justifies hate crimes? Who is even protected from them? There is still much work to be done protecting everyone from hateful violence. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 has heavily influenced the way that courts determine the protected groups under discrimination laws. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 prevents discrimination in educational facilities and public workplaces. Under the Civil Rights Act of 1964, a person may not be discriminated against due to the following:
  • Age
  • Pregnancy
  • National Origin
  • Race
  • Ethnic Background
  • Religious Beliefs
  • Sexual Orientation

Gender Identities are not listed in this group. Therefore, if someone is victimized on basis of gender, it is not a valid claim. Awareness is the first step to solution.
